Important things I have learned since turning sixty

I don't need the permission of a University, or anyone else, to be a scholar. If the so-called Universities of the world don't want me (and they don't to date, and I have given them a more than fair go), this is far more their problem than mine.

Most of the people in the world dance, whether alone, with a partner or in a set or crew, for the sheer joy of it. A few dance to look good, pick up the girls etc., and we'd probably be better off without them. But mostly, we should be sorry for them. They are the ones most missing out.

Generosity that seeks generosity in return is not generosity at all, and is terribly damaging to the giver. And many truly generous people (I hope I am one) fall into that trap (and I have). If true generosity is not returned, it is not a problem. The giver is still glad to have blessed the receiver, and this gladness is reward enough. But is easily lost!

Watch this space I am still learning
