A page of energy issues
At first glance there's only one thing we can be sure of about climate change.
Somebody is lying
Lots of people, in fact. But exactly who? That's the big question.
But there are other certainties
It's certain that there is a risk that we face unacceptable consequences of greenhouse emissions even at current levels.
(I hate that term unacceptable. Normally it means that the speaker isn't prepared to discuss what, under examination, is a questionable claim. But I'm happy to discuss, and I leave you to judge whether it's true. And note the word risk. And IMO, there's sufficient evidence to make it an unacceptable risk. And there's that word again.)
It's certain that, as we are going, emissions will continue to increase.
It's certain that this is irresponsible.
So I call myself a double skeptic
I don't think we have proof that we face disaster if we don't cut down on carbon emissions, or at least reduce their galloping increase (and not just CO2, methane is even worse).
I don't think there is any reason for complacency. The deniers may be right. Or they may be wrong (and probably are).
To fail to take action on climate change is irresponsible.
