This was getting a bit long, so see quora2

I am a Quora tragic! I spend almost as much time there as at Wikipedia.

These links should really be in Linklog 3 (or its successors) but I put them here instead as you seem to need to log on to Quora to access them.

A few of the better posts on nuclear energy

https://www.quora.com/What-would-be-the-product-of-recycling-of-nuclear-waste-How-efficiently-will-we-be-able-to-use-the-recycled-waste answered by https://www.quora.com/profile/Chris-Uhlik

https://newrealclimatescience.quora.com/Why-is-nuclear-energy-not-being-promoted-more-I-understand-this-form-of-energy-doesnt-produce-carbon-dioxide-so-I-won answered by https://www.quora.com/profile/Robert-Gauthier and he is quite right, the Friends of the Earth do appear to have been initially set up by fossil fuel interests. I never even suspected that. Greenpeace is of course different, but they have also always seemed the more logical of the two.

Some interesting ones on religion

https://www.quora.com/Can-religion-and-science-co-exist-or-are-faith-based-religion-and-hard-evidence-based-science-standards-of-belief-ultimately-irreconcilable

Interesting for the wrong reasons

See also nuclear myths from Quora

A reply to https://www.quora.com/Why-are-uranium-and-plutonium-used-more-than-other-radioactive-elements-in-reactors to which I and others also replied. But then we got this...

Because the Western and Soviet nuclear industries were, completely independent of each other, designed to produce weapons grade fissile material for thermonuclear weapons. Producing electricity for civilian use eas just a side effect. America actually built a liquid fluoride thorium reactor test article back in the 50s, and determined that type of reactor was probably more efficient and safer since they can't melt down. But you can't make nuclear weapons with its byproducts, so the military industrial complex didn't want them.

There's some truth in this but there are also more myths and mistakes than I could at first believe! But the interesting thing is, the author presumably discovered this. Because while I was in the middle of composing a rely, the author belatedly disabled replies. I guess they realised what a lot of utter rubbish it contains. But they didn't delete it. So I guess they also want to spread this rubbish.

https://jfkassassination.quora.com/?__ni__=0&__nsrc__=4&__snid3__=20168437540&__tiids__=25799022  deserves a page of its own but see it on the web while it lasts... replies disabled, of course...

https://www.quora.com/Why-is-uranium-235-preferred-for-a-nuclear-fission-reaction/answer/Brandon-Cammon U-235 has a high cross section where it is the only isotope that can control it’s rate in nuclear reactors.  Dubious.

And one of my deleted posts deserves a page of its own.

Some of my better answers (in my opinion)
