T shirts

Page history last edited by Andrew Alder 2 years, 10 months ago

A page of good ideas

There are some T shirt designs I would love to own, but custom T shirt shops seem expensive and in some (not all) cases use shoddy materials.

So I hereby give them away.

Save the Planet Pluto

That's all it really needs to say. Less is more. A graphic might help or might not. Probably not.

It must be fun to have the power to reinvent history, but it's not all that constructive to use it in the way the IAU has.

Hornbostel Sux

This is esoteric! It refers to the Hornbostel-Sachs system of organology of course.

That slogan is for one side. The other should read

Resist concussed ideophones

And Sach's mental snot

Castanets are percussion

And clarinets are not

For the explanation of why I (as a percussionist) find it funny, see

and note that the term "percussion" appears nowhere in the scheme. And that as far as H-S is concerned, castanets are not "percussive".

H-S is a really good scheme, particularly when used for ethnomusicology which was the intention of its creators Erich_von_Hornbostel and Curt_Sachs. But when applied to Western music it fails to acknowledge the proper use of the term percussion in that context, and confusingly then uses percussive to mean something completely different.

Percussionists get over such things! See nothing could be dumber.

So I really mean H&S no harm. And they are possibly getting off lightly despite the horrible pun on the latter's name. In chemistry, HS stands for all sorts of nasty things.

Drummers unite and give the followers of Eric and Curt, who have so hideously misapplied their terminology, a well-deserved beating!

Managed or damaged

This slogan is already used and perhaps even copyrighted when applied to PTSD. (As an aside to that see Zero Hour!.)

But I'd like a shirt with this on one side (not sure about back or front) and

it works for planets too

on the other side. It's a statement about survival on both scales. See a managed forest.
