A page on human behaviour
One of the best book titles I have ever seen is Bodyguard of Lies.
It comes from Churchill's comment at the 1943 Tehran Conference: In war-time, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.
The phrase has stood the test of time. (But I'm afraid the book has not.)
But there is a corollary. If a lie is important, it must be surrounded by a bodyguard of truth.
And this point is not lost on politicians and the like. When promoting any lie, if they are at all competent they will accompany it with some interesting truths. The more relevant and fascinating, the better.
You have been warned. And ironically, the book is a prime example of this truth.
