hollyword

A hollyword is a term invented to dramatise some sort of fiction.

 

The prototypical term is meltdown, invented of course by Hollywood for the cinema, and hence the name.

 

But the term cold fusion, invented by a journalist to sensationalise a relatively modest (but unfortunately in error) claim by Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons, is another example. OK so it's two words. I'm still going to use the term hollyword to describe it.

 

Is hollyword itself a hollyword? It is not intended as one, but food for thought, definitely.
