A page about church and one that may expand to be an unpopular essay
Not all sermons are excessively long. But a distressing number are. And the reason is simple.
The preacher has not had the time or made the effort to prepare a shorter one.
It's a lot more work, and takes a lot more preparation time, to make the same points briefly as to make them in a long-winded ramble. Any professional lecturer can tell you that.
It's probably not their fault.
The congregation needs to make sure that the preacher has the time and energy to prepare.
Not a lot more to follow. If anything. That says it all.
