USB or MIDI

Some keyboards, it seems, now have a USB B connector instead of MIDI. Which they say makes things easier... but for my purposes, it's a pain...

Posssibly not... The problem is, MIDI is a very well-defined interface at many levels. The USB interface may well require the intelligence of the driver specific to the particular keyboard. In other words, not only won't it speak to anything except a host computer, but that host must be able to run the software that comes with the keyboard, or no deal. A great step backwards.
